Elm River Township Planning Commission

Purpose Statement

In the winter of 2007, the Elm River Township Board of Trustees created the Township Planning Commission by resolution.  The Township Board took this action for the following reasons:

1.      The Township has experienced significant development since the 2000 census,

2.      The Township Planning Commission Act and subsequent Michigan Planning and Enabling Act, permits broader representation of the several interests in the Township, and

3.      The need for a land use plan to guide our future is apparent.

The purpose of this plan is to provide a public document created by Elm River Township to serve as an official guide to the orderly growth and development of the Township that remains in compliance with the Michigan Planning and Enabling Act, Public Act 33 of 2008.
